Privacy Policy for
Seedling Music Premium

1. Overview

Seedling Music Premium remains local-first. It does not require a Seedling account and does not include an advertising or analytics backend. Premium adds optional Google Drive music sync and official-purchase verification.

Your local music library is not uploaded to Teknoble's licensing server. Music files are sent to Google Drive only when you connect Google Drive and enable the corresponding sync direction.

2. Information accessed or stored locally

• Audio files and metadata available through Android MediaStore.
• Playlists, favourites, queue, hidden songs, excluded folders, listening history, play counts and playback position.
• Premium settings, themes, artwork-derived colors, seekbar/control/action-row selections, album-art styles, visualizer choices, Studio/DSP settings, widget choices and lyrics preferences.
• Custom artwork, imported/edited/downloaded lyrics, caches and local audio-analysis results.
• Optional Last.fm session information.
• For Google Drive sync: your selected Google account email, accepted sync-terms version, sync preferences, last sync time, counts/status, folder identifier and storage figures used by the Sync Music screen.
• For licensing: locally cached, cryptographically verified entitlement and related verification/grace metadata used to support Premium capabilities between online checks.

3. Android permissions

• Music and audio access for your local library.
• Notifications for playback and sync notifications when granted.
• Modify audio settings for equalizer, DSP and sound controls.
• Foreground media-playback service and wake lock for reliable background listening.
• Foreground data-sync service for eligible Google Drive sync work.
• Internet and network state for optional online features, Google Drive authorization/sync and purchase verification.
• Google Play license check capability used with the Premium entitlement system.

The current Premium manifest does not request microphone, precise location, contacts, camera or call-log access.

4. Google Drive music sync

Sync Music is optional. If you connect it, Premium requests Google's drive.file scope. This is designed to let the app work with Drive files it creates or that you explicitly use with the app rather than providing broad access to all files in your Drive.

The app creates/uses a dedicated Music folder for sync. Eligible local audio may be uploaded to your authorized Google Drive account, and files from that sync area may be restored to your device when download/restore is enabled. You can control automatic sync, Wi-Fi-only behavior, uploads and downloads.

Your selected Google account email and sync status information are stored locally so the app can display and resume the connection. Google processes account authorization, file content, storage usage and related metadata under Google's own terms and privacy policy.

Before connecting, the app requires you to accept copyright/cloud-sync terms confirming that you have the necessary rights or permission for audio you choose to sync. Disconnecting Google Drive stops new sync activity but does not automatically delete files already stored in your Drive.

5. Google Play Integrity and Premium license verification

Premium uses Google Play Integrity and a Teknoble licensing endpoint to confirm that the installation and Premium entitlement are valid. Verification requests may include the app package name, app version code, a request identifier and timestamp, an opaque device-binding value, a request hash and a Google Play Integrity token.

The licensing service uses these values to validate the official installation and return a signed entitlement. The entitlement is verified on-device and may be cached locally so the app can continue normal Premium use between required online checks.

The licensing request does not include your music files, playlists, lyrics, album artwork or listening history. The licensing infrastructure and its network provider may process ordinary connection metadata such as IP address, timing and security logs necessary to operate and protect the service.

6. Other optional online services

MusicBrainz and Cover Art Archive

Track title, artist and album information may be sent when you request online artwork matching.

LRCLIB

Track metadata such as title, artist, album and duration may be sent when online lyric lookup is used.

Last.fm

If you connect your Last.fm account, the app can authenticate with Last.fm, update now-playing status and submit scrobbles using available track metadata. This is optional and can be disconnected.

Third-party services handle information they receive under their own privacy policies and may receive normal internet connection metadata.

7. Data sharing and selling

Teknoble does not sell your personal data. Premium does not share your library or listening history with advertisers or analytics providers. Information is transmitted only to services needed for features you choose, such as Google Drive sync, lyrics/artwork lookup, Last.fm, Google Play Integrity and Premium entitlement verification.

8. Retention and deletion

Local data remains until you clear it, replace it or uninstall the app. Google Drive files remain in your Google Drive until you remove them there; disconnecting the app does not automatically delete them. Cached entitlement data expires or is replaced according to the licensing system. Data held by Google, Last.fm, MusicBrainz, Cover Art Archive or LRCLIB is subject to those services' own retention controls.

9. Security

Premium uses Android's application sandbox, HTTPS for supported network requests, cryptographic verification for Premium entitlement and Google-provided authorization for Drive access. Cleartext traffic is disabled. No system can guarantee absolute security, but the app is designed to minimize the data transmitted for each feature.

10. Children

Seedling Music Premium is a general-audience music utility and is not directed to children under 13. Teknoble does not build advertising or analytics profiles of children through the app.

11. Changes

This policy may be updated when Premium features, cloud services, licensing architecture or legal requirements change. The effective date will be revised for material updates.
