Seedling Music Player

1. Overview

Seedling Music Player is a local-first music player. It does not require a Seedling or Teknoble account. The Free build does not include an advertising or analytics backend.

Your local music library, playlists, favourites and listening activity are processed primarily on your Android device. Network access is used for optional features described below.

2. Information accessed or stored locally

• Audio files made available through Android MediaStore and their metadata, such as title, artist, album, duration, folder and embedded artwork.
• Playlists, favourites, queue state, hidden songs, excluded folders, listening history, play counts and remembered playback position.
• App settings such as themes, launcher icon, seekbar and playback-control style, lyrics preferences, Studio settings and sleep-shutdown state.
• Custom artwork; imported, edited or downloaded lyrics; artwork/lyrics cache files; and local loudness or peak-analysis results used by Sound Booster.
• If you connect Last.fm, the local authorization/session data needed to keep that optional connection active.

Teknoble does not receive your local library through a Seedling account or library-sync server in the Free edition.

3. Android permissions

• Music and audio access to discover and play audio you allow the app to access.
• Notifications to show media controls and playback information when granted.
• Modify audio settings for equalizer, bass and sound-processing controls supported by the device.
• Foreground service and wake lock for dependable background playback.
• Internet and network state for optional online artwork, online lyrics, Last.fm, connectivity checks and Google Play support purchases.

The current Free manifest does not request microphone, precise location, contacts, camera or call-log access.

4. Optional online services

MusicBrainz and Cover Art Archive

When online artwork lookup is used, track title, artist and album information may be sent to these services to search for matching cover art. Selected images may be downloaded and cached locally.

LRCLIB

When online lyrics are enabled or requested, track metadata such as title, artist, album and duration may be sent to LRCLIB to find synchronized or plain lyrics. Retrieved lyrics can be cached on your device.

Last.fm

If you explicitly connect Last.fm, the app may authenticate with Last.fm, update now-playing status and submit scrobbles. Depending on available metadata, submissions can include artist, track title, album, duration, playback timestamp, track number, album artist or MusicBrainz identifier. Last.fm handles that information under its own privacy policy.

Google Play Billing

Optional support purchases are processed by Google Play. Google handles payment information. The app receives the purchase state and verification information needed to confirm or consume the purchase.

These third-party services receive ordinary network metadata such as IP address and request headers as part of normal internet communication.

5. Data sharing and selling

Teknoble does not sell your personal data. The Free edition does not share your music library or listening history with advertisers or analytics providers. Data is sent to a third-party service only when needed for an optional feature you use.

6. Retention and deletion

Local information remains on your device until it is replaced, cleared through the app or Android settings, or removed when the app is uninstalled. Artwork and lyrics caches can be cleared through app controls. Data previously sent to Last.fm, Google Play, MusicBrainz, Cover Art Archive or LRCLIB is governed by those services' own retention practices.

7. Security

The app uses Android's application sandbox and HTTPS for supported online requests; cleartext traffic is disabled. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, but the app is designed to limit transmission to what the selected feature requires.

8. Children

Seedling Music Player is a general-audience music utility and is not directed to children under 13. Teknoble does not create child profiles through an app account or analytics system.

9. Changes

This policy may be updated when the Free app, third-party services or legal requirements change. The effective date above will be revised for material updates.
